Hallo, die Idee ist ja nicht schlecht. Only for single drivers.

Hi everybody.

I'm responsible for the YouTube clip (and the awful music - sorry about that )

I'm afraid I don't speak a word of German, so joining this forum may prove interesting. I'm using Google Chrome to translate so apart from my personal ignorance (more than I'd like to admit), I'll blame Chrome for any misunderstandings.

I didn't know this site existed until yesterday, but I've been on the CBF1000.com site for a little while now and have almost 2400 postings there, so not a total newcomer to the CBF1000 scene.

As for the feedback on my movie, I'll add some comments

My wife refuses to ride pillion so I decided I could make better use of the space, but only for luggage (so I'm told).

I agree the 32 litre cases I chose are not so attractive as the Givi or Honda panniers, but I only expect to use them once or twice a year and they were very cheap by comparison (only ?50 each).

Before I added the panniers, I simply wanted the biggest top-box I could find for my trip through Europe last year. I got the Maxia 3 on Ebay from a BMW rider. Even with this big case, the bike is very easy to filter through slow moving traffic (which we do a lot in the UK). Not so easy once the panniers are added though.

I agree. The music is terrible. Big mistake on my part. Again, sorry.

This didn't translate so well in Google Chrome, but from what I can read, I think my motives for the design are the question?

1/ I wanted an economical luggage solution (minimal expected use so I couldn't justify the cost of a Givi or a Honda package).
2/ The Look of the cases were not the priority.
3/ I wanted to avoid any rack frames or mountings on the bike once the pannier frame was removed (takes only 3 minutes to take it off).
4/ I wanted to place luggage weight as far forward as possible to reduce any impact on bike handling.

My thanks to beemerrichard for posting the link on my behalf

I guess my solution does look a little like an adventure bike package. I only hope it is as durable. At least it is cheap to replace any pannier cases that might get damaged (but not the Maxia 3).

It works for me and it was fun to build plus it's more secure than using soft luggage.

Finally, if your English is better than my German (which I'm pretty sure it must be from my experience) why not take a look over the fence at the CBF1000.com site.

In the meantime, i'll try and improve my German on this site whenever I get a chance.

I think it is a very interesting solution. Probably the TUEV won't approve, but me, I will never use the 2nd seat as well.

And the sound is experimental. I like it, as long as I have not to hear it all time.

I guess this is where we're still quite lucky in UK in that we are not bound by TUEV rules, but I expect it's only a matter of time...:boewu7:

Hi Mike,

sorry, I prefer bikes without many bags.
But everyone has a different taste. Do not worry, everthing okay.

You're welcome here.:blumen:

Thanks cyrus.
I agree with you regarding bikes and luggage, but for ten day's travel, I need a little more than the credit card.
I posted elsewhere a possible alternative, a 50 litre GUL dry-bag backpack on Ebay for approximately 25 euro.

Alternatively, I guess I could always send my wife ahead with the luggage...:frech4:

Naturlich auf die tank.:001:
Und Mike, you're wellcome.
Ich sitz auf der Germanforum und Englishforum.
Leider in Holland gar kein forum.
A little bit hand and feet and all understand it.

I am now looking for a mount above the dash for my Zumo 660.
May build one because I can't find one.

Richard, there's always this from TouraTech, but it is not cheap.

First, there is the crossbar

then the holder
photo2_zpsccb87eb6.jpg

It is maybe not as secure as it looks as you need only remove the two end bolts from the crossbar to release the entire holder.
It is also not so good if you have a tank bag...
Mike

Mike, I have a small tankbag.
Now I have also the Touratech but on a Rammount.
That's to low with the tankbag so I am looking for something above the tacho.
